About Us
Commonwealth Credit Union was founded in 1951 with a simple belief: people help people. What began as a small group of state employees supporting one another has grown into a $2.8B credit union focused on strengthening the communities we serve in Kentucky and beyond.
In 2025, we established the Commonwealth Credit Union Foundation to expand that mission in a deeper and more focused way. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Foundation directs its work toward improving the health and wellbeing of our communities, with a special focus on women, children, families, and veterans.
